In this video Cal and I share the first 3 marketing tips for a successful hypnosis business.
“When it comes to marketing, it shouldn’t feel as if you’re pushing your services on anyone. It should always be a loving win-win scenario. You are selling your client the new version of themselves. The improved, happy, and successful version of themselves. You are not selling hypnosis! This is very important. Clients don’t come to us for hypnosis - they come to us to get their problem solved. ”— Erika Flint
One of the issues with becoming a hypnotists -or an entrepreneur at all, is the seemingly overwhelming amount of things you “believe” you need to do to be successful. The reality is, you only need ONE good strategy to bring in new clients week after week. Unfortunately what most new business owners do, is put 10% into 10 different things - they’ll try Facebook, Google Ads, local print advertising, blogging, talking to coffee shop owners and yoga studios, and the list goes on and on. However, they never get really good at any of them. They’ve split their focus and efforts across too many things, and don’t get good results for any of them.
The strategy that works is to focus on one thing and get really good at it. Continue refining until it reliably brings new clients in regularly. Once it’s working, then you can add other strategies. For the details, continue reading.
Most hypnotists want to help people. They don’t consider themselves as marketers, however you’ll need to market your services in order to help your clients, and to find clients that aren’t already aware of you and your business.

New hypnotists often work with family and friends to begin with, but after that, it's important to have an ongoing awareness strategy.
An awareness strategy is something that makes new potential clients aware of your business on an ongoing bases.
The best approach for an awareness strategy is to find one thing and get really good at it. Here are a few examples that Erika recommends :
Google AdWords (check out our free blogposts and downloads on Google AdWords)

A common mistake for new hypnotists is to try a bit of everything. They'll try some online marketing, print advertising, maybe Facebook or Google, and put a little effort into each one. But that approach usually does not work, because it takes some effort and tweaking to get a good awareness strategy working.
The best approach is to select one awareness strategy that you like and stick with it until you understand if it can work for your business or not. A good time frame is 3 months. Once you have one awareness strategy working well, then you can add in another one.
Short-term approaches include talking about what you do, teaching courses, and Google AdWords.
The medium strategy is testimonials and referrals, such as on Yelp and with clients, and regularly writing blog posts.
Long-term strategy could include your website search engine optimization (SEO).
I look forward to seeing you in class! Let's help more people with the power of hypnosis.
