A low-energy state just means we are experiencing a low point in the day. We may be physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually tired. In that state we don’t think as clearly or expansively as we would like to.

Mike works at a car dealership as a customer service representative. He processes orders for service being done on their cars.

And his boss is always stressed.

Today, like most days, Mike’s boss yelled at him because the coffee machine in the customer waiting area was messy. Someone had spilled coffee, and it hadn’t been cleaned up. A customer complained about the disarray.

“Why didn’t I realize this happened in the break room?” Mike thought. And he felt worthless. If the customer would have only come to me, or I would have checked in there earlier, I could have avoided getting yelled at.

And before he realized it, Mike was in the break room getting a candy bar from the vending machine, again, even though he planned on eating healthy today. “I guess today isn’t the day to start eating healthier -- I’ll try again tomorrow,” he thought.
