Time does not heal old wounds. The wounds - physical or emotional, must be healed by specific healing techniques - usually inherent to our own bodies. Time is simply passing. Take a cut finger for example, time is not healing a cut finger. Your body is healing it. And you can block that process by not taking good care of your cut! The same is true about emotional healing. And that is learning how to avoid the same situation in the future. Our brain is primarily focused on keeping us safe, so anything that hurt us in the past, it’ll remember until the lesson is learned and can be avoided in the future.
In Hypnosis Truth #3, we learned about Cindy’s revelation about a hard time from her past.
When Cindy saw her coworkers whispering about her, it wasn’t just that instance that her nervous system was responding to. It was responding to all the times in Cindy’s life where she was made fun of, picked on, and bullied - including with Ms. Billows. This is why we can feel so out of control. Our subconscious mind tries to protect us from these old, outdated feelings, but under the surface, we’re still feeling them. They’re still impacting us.
Even something that happened years ago still impacts our behavior until it’s resolved.
