How to Make Money as a Professional Hypnotist
When I first started out as a hypnotist, I didn’t always want to teach this topic. Talking about money felt a little out of alignment with what drew me to hypnosis in the first place: healing, growth, and serving others. But the truth is, if we want to help people, we also need to know how to make a living doing it. Otherwise, we burn out or give up before the real magic happens.
Over the years, I’ve found a rhythm that works, not just for me, but for hundreds of new hypnotists I’ve trained. If you’re wondering how to actually earn income as a professional hypnotist, let me walk you through the three main paths (plus a bonus one I didn’t get to mention in the video).
1. Work with Private Clients
This is where we begin, and it’s where most of your income will come from at first. We start by offering a structured package - not one-off sessions. That’s because long-term transformation takes more than a single hypnosis session, and clients who commit to a package are far more likely to see real change.
When you’re just starting out, your confidence might not be sky-high yet. That’s normal. True confidence comes from success. But even then, many of our grads start charging $800 to $1,600 for a five-session package. As you gain experience and results, it’s completely reasonable to increase your rates to $1,800 or more.
What matters most is results. When your clients start saying things like “I feel lighter,” or “This changed my life,” you’ll know you’re on the right track, and more clients will follow.
2. Teach Classes and Workshops
Early on, I started teaching community classes, and it changed everything. Whether you’re teaching in a local co-op, library, or online, it’s a powerful way to share hypnosis and reach new people.
Classes build trust. They give you a platform to educate, share tools, and help people experience a small win. Even better, they often lead to private clients. People attend your class, feel better, and think, “Wow, I want more of this.”
You can teach on topics like stress, anxiety, sleep, boundaries, or whatever you feel most passionate about. Make it yours. What’s important is that people leave feeling empowered — and that they associate that feeling with your work.
3. Create Passive Income Products
Eventually, you’ll notice you’re repeating yourself. You’ll find language and approaches that work consistently with your clients. That’s the perfect time to start creating hypnosis audios, short programs, or self-paced materials that others can buy or access.
These products serve two purposes: they help your current clients deepen their work with you, and they become part of your marketing ecosystem. You can give them away as lead magnets, sell them on your site, or offer them as part of a package.
This kind of passive income isn’t just about making money while you sleep. It’s about making your work scalable, and about giving people access to your wisdom even if they’re not ready for one-on-one work yet.
4. Bonus: Use What Works to Advertise Your Business
Here’s something we didn’t dive into on the video — but it’s a big one. Once your practice is working and you’ve got a clear process for getting results, you can begin using that language in advertising.
The trick? Use your clients’ words. When they say things like “I just don’t want to think about food anymore,” that’s gold. That’s how you know you’re speaking directly to what people want help with. Build your ads from that language. Speak in their voice. That’s what draws the right people to your door.
Being a professional hypnotist means helping people with the hardest things in their lives — and being able to earn a great living doing it. It’s not a get-rich-quick path, and that’s not why we’re here. But it is a deeply rewarding, practical, and fulfilling profession.
