Hypnosis Training Video #566: NO! It’s NOT OK for You to Take Care of Yourself – It’s Essential!

by Cascade Hypnosis on

It’s more important then ever to make time for self-care when times are tough. Not just during COVID-19, but during any global or personal crisis. One of the best ways to get results for our clients is to first take care of ourselves so that we can show up calm, focused, and ready to help.

There’s an interesting mix of people doing TONS of things with their extra time at home, while others are doing LESS because it’s emotionally hard for them — and that’s OKAY! We don’t want you to shame yourself for how you’re feeling, and self-care looks different for each of us. Comparing yourself with what others are doing can create a lot of shame, which then makes negative habits easier to fall back on as we search for comfort. Don’t compare yourself to the “high achievers.” Find your groove and fine-tune it from there.

It can be hard to adjust your self-care routines to being done at home, but there are almost always ways to adapt. Don’t be afraid to reach out to professionals to ask how you can exercise, relax, eat better, or whatever your self-care flavor is, and ask how it can be done at home.

Sometimes it can be helpful to try an entirely new hobby as we adjust to a new routine. Don’t be afraid to branch out and try something new if it grabs your curiosity.

If you are struggling, find ONE thing you can do right now. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, feel bad about feeling bad, and the cycle overwhelms us more. But by picking ONE thing, we can let our brain relax by having one thing to focus on instead of the million things causing us stress. Take a 15 minute walk, fill a sticky note with a doodle, listen to your favorite song, play with your pet, anything that can bring you a moment of peace and joy.

True believers in hypnosis are unstoppable! Hypnotists often forget they can ask someone else to help them with hypnosis, so don’t be afraid to reach out to colleagues for sessions or a trade.
